New Modelers Needed!

There are a few sites which post paper mock-ups of French vehicles, including mine and Clem's (cp92maquettepapier.blogspot.com), but more would be wonderful! If you have a talent for making things, please do set up a blogspot page and publish mockups! Even if your drawings are not excellent, there is always room for improvement, so, please, if you feel like you can draw, do so!

This is the difference between a V5 R2N (PACA) and a V2 R2N (liO). Version 5, in this case, a V160L in SÜD-PACA livery, is a modified version of Clem's R2N V4. The other one is V2 of the R2N Cm (V200Cm) in liO livery (Occitanie provence). Enjoy the photos!

Personally, V4/V5 models are harder to build, I recommend making the V2 models, although these are not publicly available anymore (Email me if you want them at duck33920@gmail.com)

The articulation on V4/V5 models also tends to break.

Build: Eole ÎDFM

Ahh, just imagine what an Eole in ÎDFM would look like...

I only wish this was real, and the Eoles were not being dismantled...

This model was posted on my blog a while back.

If this did happen, I would want CAF to refurbish the Eoles, as they did a good job with the Altèos.

BR Class 350/1 London Northwestern Railway

This is a model of the BR Class 350/1 Desiro, the first version of the Class 350. The Class 350s all run on overhead power, but the Class 350/1 trains can run on overhead wires and and also a 3rd rail! This bi-mode capability was particularly useful when these trains were loaned to First Capital Connect, who needed 3rd rail exploitation!

This particular unit is BR Class 350 no. 350101, the first ever Desiro in Britain! Hence, it is fitting it wears the newest livery! The livery is the London Northwestern Railway livery (version 2), but is more affectionately called "The W". These trains are four carriages long, but typically run coupled in 8-car sets, with capability for 12-carriage operation!

This model, like all of my newer, higher-quality models, features elements from the real train, including:

Front and rear-end gangways for interconnection
First class segment on TSOLW (like the real train)
Accurate SWR livery with 2025-correct logos
Set numbering (350101)
Air conditioner pods on roof
Slot on PTSOL for pantograph like in real life
Pantograph for PTSOL like in real life

This train has also had some improvements. These include:

An improved headlight cluster, more accurate to the real train (these updates will be rolled out across all Desiro models)
Improved interconnection
More accurate front end, with improved front windows, and better set numbering

These updates were quietly introduced in the 360/2, when it was published. Did you notice?

BR Class 360/2

This is a BR Class 360/2, you have seen the Thai one, now for a weirder version. This is the variant once used by Heathrow Connect, with one train, 360205, being used for Heathrow Express!

These trains, 5 in total, were also the victim of poor rollingstock management. While some of Britain still had 40 year old trains, 360204 and 360205 were dismantled at a scrapyard! Perfectly good trains trashed, as a symbol of British Rail's disconnection!

I am still angry about this. It happened, I think, 2 years ago now? 3 of the trains have been repurposed.

Line 4 (Chatélét Line)

If you already have a Météor printed, just remove two middle carriages to create a Line 4 train. If you have a Line 11 train, add one middle carriage and print both end carriages to replace the driver-operated end carriages currently fitted.

Line 11 (Chatélét Line)

The intermediate carriages are from the Météor, but the end cars are new.

If hypothetically, you built an MP14/8 CA (Météor), but want to have an MP14/5 CC (a Line 11 train), you can make 2 Line 11 trains from the middle carriages of one Météor!

To convert a fully built Météor to Line 11 specification, take off the end carriages (driverless carriages), split the 6-carriage middle setup in half and then print 4 driving trailers (2x P1, 2x P5), and attach them at the end of each 3-carriage piece.

Congrats, you have two line 11 trains, and two spare Météor driving trailers, if required later!
