Some more developments on the 3D model, I can confirm that the model will initially be released as the 4-carriage "Litra SE" and then as the 8-carriage "Litra SA". The short driving motor from the SE, or "mini pig" (as contrasted by the SA "guinea pig") has been made into a prototype, showing the capability of the model. A 3D model will not be made until around December, so I have time to learn how to use Fusion360...

With this new train, I also introduced a new front end, however, it was not performing well, so I replaced it with the old front. Here is the Litra SA with the new Litra SE.

Announcement: A new? innovation in paper modelling

I have invented a new idea...

Often, the first time I release a model, there are huge inaccuracies. The trigonometry I use to design the curves in models does not take into account things like glue expansion, cardboard thickness, etc. Hence, the models often have flaws in their design, which necessitate replacement of the entire carriage.

All new models of mine will have a separate front piece, and separate detail areas, so that, if inaccuracies occur (which they do -- take the VR Series Sm2 as an example), you need only to print replacements of the affected part. 

 

This arose out of a need for an easily modifiable model of the Mark 4 S-Tog, as no design is perfect first try. So, I made the S-Tog's front detachable. This has allowed for replacement fronts to be easily made (it will soon receive a new front design).

The Mark 4 S-Tog prototype was the first of my models to have this feature. 

I am just trialing this, if you do not like it, I can go back to the ways of old, feedback is a help, as always... 

Retirement of first S-Tog prototypes

The first S-Tog prototype has been retired. This is to make way for new prototypes.

The train is cut up and put in my compost, I then return the compost to the soil as fertiliser

Do not fear, my other Danish train models are intact, this IC3 is waiting for a front end update, others are intact, too...

...including my second prototypical Mark 4 S-Tog! It is still intact, it will also have a new front end soon...

 

S Tog Prototyping

First of all, the paper model will never be released. It is not intended to be built. It has gone through two iterations, so far, as shown by the above photos

  

It is a prototype, to see how a 3D model will look. I will publish the 3D model, maybe in the school holidays, so 4-5 weeks.

The back is designed to look 3D, as another test (modelling the interior)

The front is a separate piece, this is because multiple fronts have been designed, to see which flows best. This front will be replaced, soon. 

The second front version, is still too square. A new front will replace it soon.

This was the first version. I destroyed it, as it was not a good model.

MK.4 S-Tog blueprints

Here are some simple blueprints that I drew, of the various carriages that comprise a Copenhagen Mark IV S-Tog (S-Train, basically an RER/S-Bahn)

This will not be a paper model, I am not doing a paper S-Tog, that is the only clue I am going to give all of you. I will leave the guesswork up to each and every one of you.
