Comeng 2101 AdMet

PavløvA_YT

Here we have driving trailer no.2101, the first Jumbo driving trailer to be made, and the first to go into service.

Unlike driving motors, which numbered from 2001-2012, trailers were more abundant, numbering 2101-2118. Usually, two trailers were arranged outside one motor car, but occasionally trains would run as MD consists or even DMMD/MDDM/DMDM consists (a famous example being 2003-2106-2012-2117, of which 2003 was preserved)

Trailers were almost half the weight of motors, coming in at 35 tonnes instead of 67 tonnes (power cars were heavy enough that they were classified as passenger locomotives).

Trailer 2101 was the first to be modernised; repainted into the AdMet livery with its then-coupled motor, 2003.

It was also one of the first to be unfortunately scrapped.

2109 was preserved, with 2101's pair motor car, 2003. Both 2109 and 2003 can be witnessed at Steamranger, although they have tried to airbrush the existence of these out of their history books; the trains are not drivable, do not ever go on tours, and are hidden at the back of their yard, they also do not show up on their website. Lets just hope they don't scrap them.
